VOLUNTEERS' VISIT TO LIONS HOME
Date: 1st August
Group size: Min 20 and Max 30 pax
RULES AND REGULATION:
DO's:
1) come with an open heart. Be prepared to help.
2) Approach the residents warmly. Interect freely with them
3) Make use of body language. Reach out to touch their hands. Smile a lot .
4) Listening intently. Show interest in what they are telling you
5) Play games with them: chess, checkers anyting they want
6) Focus on buildin relationship with the resident you are speaking to. Spend at least 15 minutes with him/her before moving on
7) greet them by their names as possible. Look for the nametags on them or their wheelchairs
8) Excuse yourself if you are uncomfortable
9) ask the nurses on duty when in ANY doubt
10) Seek permission before attempting to feed or move the residents
11) Be sentitive to their responses. leave them alone if they display disinterest.
12) Give feedback at the end of your visit
13) Inform nurses of food request. You may buy for them on your next visit
14) keep in mind that some residents have multiple medical conditions. they may not always understand what is going on around them
DON'Ts:
1) Go into the dormitories. Saty within tyhe common areas.
2) remove anything from the residents
3) bring them out of the premises without permission
4)ask questions pertaining to their personal or family life. Keep question general
5) Promise the residents ANYTHING if you have no confident of fulfiling it
6) Be disheartened if they are responding. Sometimes it takes a while for them to warm up
7) Study before you approach. they are not exhibits
8) take photographs without permission
9) Visit when you are unwell. stay home. come again when you recover
10) Believe everything they tell you. Some cannot understand their own conditions or situations
11) Feel what you are doing is not important. Every little things contributes
PROGRAMME

2) MCs (guanjie& tianjiao) to brief about the activites we have
3) ice breaking games -need 10 ppl to plan and play
4) Singing with guitar
